Dairy Queen's Response to my rant.
This was their response...
I feel that we all need to go to www.dairyqueen.com and ask them specifically WHY they don't offer the Pumpkin Pie Blizzard during NOVEMBER. Inundate their in boxes with questions of why, why, why, why?
I have just realized something HORRIBLE. Canadian Thanksgiving is in October! Has Dairy Queen which was started in Joliet, Illinois and moved to Edina Minnesota been over run by Canadians who come to OUR country, drive the 459 miles to work just to ruin Thanksgiving for us?
Someone get Oliver Stone on the Phone, I have a conspiracy I need to discuss.
Thank you for contacting International Dairy Queen, Inc. (IDQ) with your concerns regarding the availability of the Pumpkin Pie Blizzard® Flavor Treat. We appreciate hearing how much you enjoyed this Blizzard and apologize for your disappointment when you learned this Blizzard flavor is no longer available at your local Dairy Queen® restaurants.
The Pumpkin Pie Blizzard was a limited time offering, featured as one of our 'Blizzard of the Month' flavors. We do have high hopes that it will return again to Dairy Queen restaurants for our 'Blizzard of the Month' promotion in coming years.
Please know that we are keeping a record of all the comments we receive regarding the Pumpkin Pie Blizzard and have forwarded your comments to our Product Development Team for their information and review of this product. Thank you once again, for taking the time to contact us. We truly appreciate your interest in Dairy Queen and in our DQ products! Best Regards,
Rita

American Dairy Queen CorporationWhat a load of marketing hoo-hah... Yes I said HOO-HAH. This doesn't address the FACT that they offered the Pumpkin Pie Blizzard® (did you catch the trademark mark IN MY EMAIL?!) in OCTOBER, the month that you Decorate Pumpkin's not eat them as PIE!

My HazMatt spill over Dairy Queen
After seeing the ad for a pumpkin pie shake, my girlfriend mentioned she wanted one. I figured that a Pumpkin Pie flavored Blizzard would be ideal during the month of November, which is the month of Thanksgiving in the United States. I took her to our local Dairy Queen, which is a 22 minute drive away. We get there to find that the flavor of the month is now CHOCOLATE CHIP?
Pumpkin Pie is OK for October but not November? No one that I know eats PUMPKIN PIE for HALLOWEEN. This HAS GOT to be one of the WORST marketing plans. EVER.
When we mention this to the manager, we are told that it was a corporate decision, AND they mentioned that you're getting rid of the peppermint shake?
This is tragic, simply tragic. Why is Dairy Queen attempting to ruin America one flavor at a time? What is your next plan, getting rid of anything similar to APPLE PIE? Bring Back Pumpkin Pie Blizzards for Thanksgiving! FACEBOOK and Twitter will be enjoying this rant.
Ok, it's a bit melodramatic, but let's see what their response is.

How I met Heather...
Some wonder how I met Heather. (Ok... not as catchy as How I Met Your Mother, but it's not going to take 5 or 6 seasons for you to find out.)
So... Kids, I'm going to tell you the story of how I met Heather.
I was at "Top Shelf", a local watering hole (a bar which leaves a lot to desire, poor service, and grumpy employees IMHO {in my humble opinion}). I was up singing Karaoke, yes, I sing Karaoke, and I was singing a duet with a friend, the song was "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" by Meat Loaf. I looked down in the group that was there, I noticed a beautiful woman sitting there, singing every word with me. Now, There are not many Meat Loaf fans in this world, and there are not many who are willing to sing Karaoke, so I went down and talked to her. Asked her name, and we started talking. And it went from there.
It turned out, this was not the first time I met her. I met her at a birthday party for a mutual friend, little did I know...

The Paranormal Exists...
Well, Saturday Heather, Kaitlynne, Kimberly, Claire, and I all went down to Salt Lake City to meet with Heather's Nephew John. We took the van.
(A little back story about the van)
Now... the van had an issue with the interior lights that Heather's Ex fixed using a stopper. We didn't know that the stopper had fallen off, but the interior lights would turn on at random... ...or so it would seem.
Usually when the light turns on, its when the car hits a bump, we accelerate, or go around a turn.
(Back to the blog)
It turns out, that while we were in Salt Lake City we picked up a visitor.
The lights were going on and off, so I joking asked "If you're here with us, turn on the lights", and Heather Jokingly asked another question and it started to respond. So we decided to ask more questions.
I put both my hands on the steering wheel so the girls wouldn't think it was me doing anything with the lights. Heather used a camera to video tape things, I was driving and asking questions, and the littlest voice you hear in the background is Claire, the three year old.
Take a look for yourself.
Now, I have always been a believer in the paranormal, this just reaffirmed it a little more.

A Large HazMatt Spill
Well, This is my first post in what will hopefully be a long line of HazMatt Spills.
Ricci and Aaron (my sister-in-law and brother-in-law (we'll leave it at that because if you know the real truth you'll figure out I may be my own grandpa)), both have posts and it made me wonder if I should get involved in this evilness.
As you can see on by my Bio (hazard), I have been divorced, but I am the father of two wonderful Children, heh, I call them children, but one is an adult, and the other is going to be sweet sixteen at the end of the month.
I have also been widowed. I lost my wife Jill to Breast Cancer, I only got a few years with her, but they were the best part of my life. One of the hardest things that I have ever gone through, that according to everyone else I had to go through it to "make me stronger". I know that I had to go through it for many reasons.
- To learn about myself.
- To learn about how unthinking others can be.
- How to deal with that.
- To help my mom go through losing my dad.
- To know when to say goodbye.
- To help others learn more about Cancer.
I am currently Living (in sin) with my girlfriend and her three girls. A thirteen year old, a ten year old and a three year old. I have done something that I thought would never happen to me.
- Met someone as wonderful as Jill.
- Met someone who accepts me as I am.
- Met someone who loves me for me, not for what she can mold me into.
- Met someone who understands that there is a ghost in the house and accepts her for being there.
I met Heather at Karaoke. Neither of us were going to go. I went and sang my usual songs. Meat Loaf, Paradise by the Dashboard light. I looked down at the crowd and there was Heather, singing every word with me. A Meat Loaf fan, a karaoke singer, and is beautiful? Impossible. But NAY, there she was. We talked, and talked, exchanged phone numbers, texted back and forth, and the rest is the present.
Little did I know I had met her before, but I must not have been ready.
She moved out of the apartment she was living in and moved in with me. Yes, it's a little bit of a challenge for me to go from only me to 4 additional people, but I wouldn't trade it for the world. We have some adjustments we are still making.
I enjoy the time I have with her, I will cherish every minute of it.
